Handling Stuff

In the weekend, the baby table chair has been brought in. I got the honor to open the package and assemble the chair. What's so great about the chair is the click system. But while we don't use it when our nephew isn't visiting. I dismantle it and put it in the free space under our closet. The lose parts doesn't take a lot of space. Okay, it isn't visually appealing at all but it's not in the way.

The thing is when I got the chair in hand. I knew immediately something has to go. The rule 1-in-2-out applies here too. Anything new that comes in through the door means the rule has to be applied. Of course were only talking about stuff that isn't necessary for our daily life. That chair isn't absolute not needed in my daily life. So next thing is finding some other stuff to get rid of.

Fortunately, I still have some charging cords and toys laying around that I don't use anymore. I also decreased my belongings by occasionally going through the remainder box. But taking action immediately after a new item has brought in the house keeps the clutter away.

Buying new thing that you need isn't a sin. I want to make clear that minimalism doesn't limit you in buying. Because you don't need to follow the 1-in-2-out rule, it's just a way for myself to be aware of the things that I already have. How many times have I bought something without thinking and find out I already have it.

Perhaps you are that well disciplined person that only goes into a store to buy the things you lack and need or just buy the things on your list. I wish that I could be that person but I am not and that's nothing to be ashamed of. I use those rules more like question's like 'do I really need it?'
